Louise "Granny" Helms McRae

Louise "Granny" Helms McRae, age 102 1/2, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Monday April 30, 2018. She was born September 16, 1915 in Enterprise, Alabama to Victoria King Helms and John L. Helms.

Granny loved all flowers, working in her yard and cooking great food. She worked for J.C. Penny's for 25 years as a sales clerk before retiring to be a homemaker.

She is survived by; daughter Ann McRae; daughter Mary L. Sands; and son John (Nita) McRae; a special friend, Arlene; sister, Mildred Brown; 16 grandchildren and many many great-grandchilden. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy McRae; daughter Jeanie McGinnis; father, John L. Helms and mother, Victoria King Helms; and sisters, Helen and Mabel.

A visitation for Granny will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will occur Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Officiating the services will be Thomas McRae. Serving as pallbearer will be her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made in Granny's name to Woodridge Baptist Church.
