Mrs. Lyndal Gussie Cathey Phillips

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Lyndal Cathey Phillips, 92 will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Lyndal was born on January 5, 1924 in Gibsland, LA to Leonard and Ida Lou Cathey and peacefully passed away on June 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Lyndal was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Mrs. Phillips was an avid bowler and was on a team that won the Shreveport Championship. She and her two sisters, Joann and Biddie(deceased) were faithful in delivering Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ida Cathey; her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Jackson Phillips; son, Gary Timothy Phillips and her grandson, Blake Phillips.

She is survived by her dear sister, Joann Holloway; daughter, Cyndie Reid (Chuck), all of Shreveport; son, Jack Phillips of San Antonio; 8 grandchildren, Stefanie Smith, Tommy Reid, Casey Reid, Christy Summerlan, Brooke Phillips, Matt Hamilton, Melissa Hessling and Leslie Phillips. Mrs. Phillips was also survived by 16 great grandchildren.

Honoring Mrs. Phillips as pallbearers will be: Chuck Reid, Casey Reid, Tommy Reid, Devin Smith and Jack Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to “Meals on Wheels” at the Council on Aging, 1700 Buckner Street, Shreveport, LA 71101 or Broadmoor Baptist Church, 3715 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105.
