Our Mom was born in Dubach, Louisiana on July 3, 1934, the 10th of 11 children born to Joesef and Lillian Williams Colvin. Our Mama died very peacefully Tuesday, February 20, 2024 of advanced dementia.
Mom was a farmer’s daughter and would tell us quickly that she never got the hang of picking cotton as well as her siblings. Being raised on a farm identified her life in many ways – She was a Christian, hard worker and loyal to her family and friends.
When Mom left the farm in 1952, she moved to Shreveport and while attending Centenary College she met a handsome firefighter stationed on the street where she lived (Number 7 firestation). Thus began her life as a fireman’s wife and our mother. Mom was a housewife early in their marriage and as we got older, Mom went to work in the Data Processing industry, retiring from Statistical Service. Our Mom loved to cook, especially Christmas candy, work in her flower gardens and relax (especially with grandkids) at their Lake Claiborne home. Her Cross Lake home’s flower beds were her pride and joy. Mom loved to travel with Dad, riding on the back of his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mom loved their calm view of the Cross Lake home. Mom and Dad then settled into The Glen Retirement system. We sincerely thank the many Glen caregivers (especially her favorite, Jatrina Terrell) that have lovingly tended to Mom during her last years.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Jerry Y. Davis, Sr., siblings Calhoun Colvin, Nettie B. Colvin, Infant Colvin, Joe Rome Colvin, Archie Colvin, Glin Colvin, Marvin Colvin, Marie Colvin Carr, Dan Colvin and Sarah Colvin Overstreet.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Tanya Davis Tingle (husband Mike) and son Jerry Y. Davis, Jr. (wife Kaye). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Tingle Tonsman (Vaughn), Jessica Tingle Nix (Brad), Cody Michael Tingle, Amy Davis, Jerry Y. Davis III ( Trey ), Brian Jones and Kevin Jones, and great-grandchildren McKinley Tonsman, Vaughn Tonsman, Carter Nix, Ann-Claire Tingle, Callaway Tingle, Haley Davis, Peyton Ragsdale and Alana Shepherd. Mom has one great-great granddaughter Annaleigh Shepherd.
Also surviving Mom are Dad’s brothers, Ray D. Davis and John L. Davis ( wife Vivian ) and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be sent to the Colvin Memorial, Care of Sally Landry, 2820 Highway 167, Dubach, LA
