It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Margaret Brosset announce her passing on May 27, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Lester R. Brosset, mother of William, Michele, Jean Paul, Marc "Randy", and grandmother of Kristina, Austin, Jennifer, and Joseph "Joey". She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Katherine McNally and William Gorton Wailes, and her brother, Richard G. Wailes. Mardie was born in El Paso, Texas on January 19, 1941. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Loretto Academy in El Paso and graduated high school in 1959. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso. She married Lester "Buddy" Brosset in September 1961, upon his return from his tour of duty in South Korea. For the next fifteen years, she accompanied him on military assignments through the United States and overseas. When his assignments did not permit families, Mardie returned to El Paso to be near family and to care for her young children, Michele and Jean Paul.
Mardie was an adventurous person, who found pleasure in many activates from sand surfing in White Sands National Park in New Mexico to flying with her brother, Richard, in glider planes over the deserts in West Texas. She always loved gardening and had quite the green thumb. Before her eyesight weakened in recent years, she was an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan. She loved to cook and create new recipes, even though she had to follow a strict diet herself. She loved watching the delight of her family and friends enjoying her culinary endeavors.
Raised in a devout Catholic home and attending Catholic schools, Mardie always had a strong love for church and her church families. She devoted her time to church matters, especially teaching CCD classes and serving during weekly masses. She loved Sacred Heart Church more than words could describe. She attended Sacred Heart for over 40 years and was heartbroken when the decision to close "her church" was announced.
A funeral mass for Mardie will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM with a rosary beginning 20 minutes prior at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 4736 Lyba Street, Shreveport, Louisiana 71109. A graveside will occur Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108.
Mardie was an amazing women, much loved and cherished by family and friends and her presence will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or the charity of your choice.
