

Plano, TX Maybelle Blevins went to meet her Lord July 9, 2014. She was born January 20, 1920 to Frank and Ellen Latham in Sabine Parish. She loved her husband of 60 years, family and friends, but most of all, the Lord. Her greatest pleasure in life was to be of service to others. She was a registered nurse serving in the military during WWII in the South Pacific and Philippines. After returning home she went to work at the VA Hospital in Shreveport where she retired. She won several awards and medals while in the military, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Maybelle was a member of the Springs of Grace Baptist Church, formerly Sunset Acres Baptist Church. She was a member of the Nurses Association, American Red Cross, Life Member of the D.A.V., member of the American Legion and the VA Retired Nurses.
Maybelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, G. B. Blevins. Surviving her are her daughters, Linda Blevins Perry and husband Rev. Joe Perry of Plano, TX, Mary Blevins Berres of Dallas, TX, Patricia Blevins Bell and husband Bob of Lewisville, TX, and Carolyn Blevins DeValcourt and husband Marc of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Ryan Perry and wife Amy, Caleb Perry and wife Blaire, Christopher Schuchardt and wife Ashley, Mariah Acevedo and husband Daniel, Morgan DeValcourt and Caroline DeValcourt; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014, 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Latham. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 before the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family members.
