Michael Ray McMillon was born September 4, 1963 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was affectionately known by his family and friends as Captain Mike. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Louisiana State University of Shreveport. He honorably served in the U.S. Army, where he earned the rank of Captain along with many honors. During his military service in the Army Reserves, Mike worked for over 30 years for General Motors before retiring. Following his retirement, he continued to stay busy, working as a Vice President of the Red River Obedience Dog Club and Sergeant of Arms of UAW retirees.
Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a fun loving friend to all. His generosity was evident to everyone who knew him. He would help anyone who needed. Captain Mike always was quick with a smile and a dad joke. He was a known dog lover and history buff. He loved working and training Percy with his friend Brad at Red River Obedience Dog Club. Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 61. He will be deeply missed and forever treasured by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tollie McMillon; mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Jaudon; step-mother, Joan McMillon; brother, Ed Felts; brother-in-law, Rob Lang; and his aunt Connie LaBarbera.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 25 years, Sharon McMillon; daughter, Anna McMillon; sons, Steven McMillon (Katie) and Daniel McMillon (Gaby); bonus daughter, Elizabeth Schroeder (Michael); grandchildren, Levi Schroeder, Lucas Schroeder, Lucy Schroeder, Hudson McMillon and Dakota McMillon; siblings, Joe McMillon, Randy McMillon (Rhonda), Rainey Lang, Susan Lefebre (Tom), and Kathy Ashby (Edward); along with many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Michael will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108 with a committal following at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St Vincent Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103. Honoring him as pallbearers are Steven McMillon, Daniel McMillon, Randy McMillon, Michael Schroeder, Levi Schroeder and Lucas Schroeder.
