Natalie Barton Sliman, 58, went home to be with her Lord, September 14, 2021, in Shreveport, LA. Born to J.T. and Maxine Gordy Barton on June 25, 1963, she was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, where she experienced a beautiful life filled with great love for her parents, her husband, Gary, her son, Wes, and her granddaughter, Tara, who was the absolute light of her life. With a smile that would brighten every room, Natalie was full of love and kindness, eagerly bringing joy to those around her. She loved going to the beach, playing card games with her parents and her husband, Gary and playing Bunco with her mother and special friends, she referred to as “sisters”. A proud member of the Southwood High School Class of ’81, Natalie attended LSUS from 1981-1982. She enjoyed working in the family business at Barton Glass for many years until she took ownership of her own store. Later she sold the business to pursue a new career as a licensed real estate agent, and at the time of her death, she had worked at Coldwell Banker/Gosslee for nearly 13 years. Natalie’s passion for flowers and floral design provided her with the opportunity to work with a local florist on special occasions every year, allowing her gift to bless many people. As a faithful Christian, Natalie demonstrated the love of Christ to all who knew her and she is greatly missed.
Natalie is preceded in death by her parents and uncle, James “Sonny” Gordy.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Gary; son, Wesley Mason and special granddaughter, Tara Maxine Mason; Mother-in-love, Loretta Young; Stepdaughters, Jennifer Mason DeSpain (Daniel) and her children, Casey and Eli; Stephanie Mason and daughter, Grace; Stepchildren, Jessica Speer (Will) and her Malachi and Nehemiah; Casey Sliman (Nicole) and their children Wyatt, Paisley, Waylon and Rory; Uncle Donald Ray Barton and Aunt Shirley Barton, special Cousin, Donna Barton Sutton (Greg) and their son, Scott (Emily), along with a host of extended family, friends, clients, “sisters” and her lifelong friends known as “The Posse”.
A celebration of Natalie’s life will be held Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at Open Range Fellowship, 9950 Hwy 80, Greenwood, LA 71033. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am.
