He was born in Long Beach, California on September 17th, 1947, to the late Paul G. Beck and surviving Ada L. Brewer (Schuler). He spent most of his young life in Louisville, Kentucky, and later moved to Bossier City, Louisiana. After proudly serving in the U.S. Army, he became owner-operator of a trucking business.
Along with his mother, Paul is survived by his children, Jason (Sheila) Beck and Susan (Ken) Brand; grandchildren, Logan Beck, Kaitlyn (David) Crawley, and Samantha Brand; siblings, Donnie (Beverly) Beck, Janet (late Charlie) Williams, Judy Lawson, Joy Brewer, and Woody (Danni) Brewer; a host of nieces and nephews.
Paul was a beloved son, caring brother, loving father, and doting “Pops.” He exemplified a steadfast faith in God and always considered the well-being of others. He was a dedicated member of Waller Baptist Church. He also devoted his time and talents to the Mansfield Street Mission, impacting lives for over 20 years. With his humble generosity, his life was a living example of his favorite Bible verse, Matthew 6:19-21 - “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on Earth, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven.”
Paul was an avid bowler, scoring numerous perfect 300 games! He enjoyed a leisurely game of golf and a hot cup of black coffee. A common pastime was patronizing his favorite diner, where he made lasting friendships. You could always count on him for a weather update and a good ‘ole Southern, “I heard that!”
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. For those wishing to make a contribution in remembrance of Paul, please consider donating to Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans.
May the memory of Paul bring solace to those who knew and loved him.
