

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Sgt. Major Ralph Watson Barlow, Jr., 77, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Luke Bissell. Interment with full military honors will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
In the early morning of August 10, 2016, Ralph W. Barlow died in the arms of his wife, Charlene, as she whispered, "I love you." Born March 22, 1939, Ralph spent his youth in Florida. After high school, he joined the Army, during which time he traveled extensively and earned a B.A. from La. Tech. Mr. Barlow was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Ralph's life was about service to his country, his family and to all who were in need. His army career included two tours of duty in Vietnam. After retirement he held positions in several non-profit organizations such as the Caddo Community Action Agency.
Mr. Barlow was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Jeanette; a niece, Robbie; a nephew, Stephen and his beloved, "Uncle Sonny".
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Ralph is his wife, Charlene; sons, Jeff and his wife Kelly and Chris; daughter, Kim; grandsons, Dylan, Camden, Jeffrey, and Luke; one granddaughter, Morgan; two great granddaughters, Kanyon and Blayke and sister, Barbara Ann. Mr. Barlow is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robbie Wise, Dr. Sneedhara B. Alla and to all the other doctors and medical professionals who cared for Mr. Barlow. The family is very grateful for the friendship and devotion from Sharon and Curtiss Wright and Mr. Barlow's Scottwood neighbors.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
