James Richard Freeman, 72, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and deep love for his family and friends. Rick was the type of person who made everyone feel special, always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, and a heart full of warmth.
Rick was known for his kind and caring nature, and he was loved by everyone who knew him. Whether at work as a manager at Firestone Tire or in his personal life, he made a lasting impact with his genuine and steady presence. He always put his family first, and he took great pride in being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Rick had a deep passion for country music, which he loved sharing with those around him. He was an avid supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks and LSU Tigers, always ready to cheer on his teams with the same enthusiasm he gave to all his passions. His interest in history, especially the Civil War, was a lifelong hobby that fueled many engaging conversations and memories with friends and family.
Rick is survived by his friend of many years Baba, his grandchildren Gabrielle Freeman Allen, Lal Echterhoff and his wife Lacee, Jacob Echterhoff, Emily Echterhoff, his great grandson Layton Echterhoff, and his brother Larry Freeman.
Rick was preceded in death by his daughter Dollie Freeman; his father Richard Lee Freeman and his mother Ella Mae Larance Freeman, and his sister Kathy Harris.
Rick lived a life full of love and was always there for those who needed him. He was more than just a family member or friend; he was a source of comfort, joy, and support. His legacy is one of humility, kindness, and generosity, and he will be cherished by his family and countless friends.
