Bob was born to Charles and Mildred (Dempsey) Doran on August 27, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was a graduate of Heelan Catholic High School (class of 1955) and a Shreveport trade school.
After high school Bob enlisted in the Air Force, where he served in the Military Police as a dog handler. Bob was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Lake Charles, Louisiana. After leaving the Air Force, Bob moved to Shreveport where he met his loving wife Kay (Gorman) Doran in 1959. Bob and Kay were married on January 2, 1960, at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Shreveport.
Bob spent 8 years at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in Stratford, Connecticut, building helicopters, including the Sikorsky HH-3E helicopter. He then spent the rest of his working career as an electronic technician with Sears Roebuck & Company in Shreveport.
Bob was a Boy Scout leader for eight years with the scouts of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Troop 99. He loved camping with his scouts and with family in Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas and greatly enjoyed attending Shreveport Pirates Canadian Football League games. After retirement from Sears, he enjoyed woodworking and making bookcases, tables, toys and other woodcrafts for family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Doran, his brothers Paul and Charles, sisters-in-law Mae and Arlene, and nieces Lisa and Laurie.
