Robert Douglas Mathis (Bob), age 75, of Shreveport, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Bob was born October 18, 1946 in Aurora, Illinois to William and Carolyn Mathis.
Bob grew up in Illinois. He attended Northern Illinois University and graduated with a BA in History. Bob eventually settled in Slidell, Louisiana for many years before moving to Shreveport. Bob was a Financial Advisor with John Hancock for almost 50 years. He was a very devoted Financial Advisor to his many clients, some who have been with him for a long time.
Bob was a very kind, loving and devoted christian, husband, father and grandfather. He was so proud watching his children excel in sports and academics. Bob also enjoyed coaching his sons in soccer for many years, where he became known as "Coach Bob". He truly loved coaching and loved telling the stories of all of the exciting wins. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him best and loved him most.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert Douglas Mathis, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Carolyn; sister, Jeanine Ryan (Bill); children, Kelly Miller (John), Heather Calmes (Kevin), and Rocky Mathis (Jennifer); grandchildren, Allison and Madeline Miller, Kaylin, Kendall, and Kassidy Calmes, and Cohen Cormier; great grandchild, Jagger Guice; step-children, Kandee Moser (Robert), Cindee Jones (Michael) and Keith Cloud (Sherry); step grandchildren, Erin Lowery (Jonathon), Kara Moser, Taylor Jones (Ashton), Halee Jones and Cole Jones; step great grandchildren, Rhett Jones and Brooks Lowery.
A Visitation for Bob will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 4175 Lakeshore Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71109. A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm with Rev. Michael Shannon officitating. Interment will take place in Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Rocky Mathis, Kevin Calmes, Bill Ryan, Barry Haire, Robert Moser, Michael Jones, Tim Brobst and Cole Jones.
