

SHREVEPORT, LA - Roger was received into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2014 while at the Grace Home after a lengthy illness, rejoining his wife of 71 years, Gladys, who recently left his side on September 5, 2014.
Celebration of Life services for Roger John Braniff, 94, will be held Tuesday 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Chapel, Shreveport, Mansfield Road. Pastor Dr. Murry Hodge officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Centuries Memorial. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation on Monday 15, 2014 from the hours of 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Roger was born June 24, 1920 in New Orleans, LA where he completed his education. In 1942 after completing Advanced Finance School at Wake Forest College in North Carolina he served during World War II in the 211th Army Air Force Unit at several Air Force Bases. He was a resident of Shreveport since 1951. At that time he established a Branch Service Office for The Equitable Life Assurance Society, retiring after 41 years of service with them in 1980.
He was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church and of the Bruce Hardcastle SS Class. He and his wife Gladys were formerly members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shreveport. He was a member of the American Legion Post #14 and also of The Pelican Travelers Chapter of FMCA motor home club.
Roger was a faithful, loving husband, father and provider for his family for over 71 years. Just a few of his talents included the art of craftsman woodworking, custom made outdoor Christmas decorations, cooking and just plain true love of his family. His hand crafted Christmas decorations adorned his home each year for all to enjoy.
He is survived by Sons Raymond R. Braniff and wife Patsy, Roger S. Braniff Sr. and wife Phyllis. Six grandchildren, Christi B. Stegall and husband Shane, Darrell R. Braniff and wife Jill, Roger S. Braniff Jr. and wife Andrea, Christopher D. Braniff, John D. Smith and Michael T. Smith and wife LaCretia, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. And not to forget another love of his life, his Yorkie, Miss Tara.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys S. Braniff , on September 5, 2014, by his Father, Thomas R. S. Braniff., Mother, Clementine K. Ulfers Braniff, two brothers , Ernest and Thomas J. Braniff, all of New Orleans .
Serving as pallbearers are: Darrell Braniff, Roger Braniff Jr., Chris Braniff, Shane Stegall, Austin Stegall, John Roy Fulco, Greg Fulco and Bill Ford.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedisys Home Health, Christus Highland Hospital, and the gracious loving care of the staff at the GRACE Home. A very Special Thank You to his one on one Caregiver, Moneke Cole Jackson, who was by his side and showered him with her love daily until his going home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials made to the GRACE Home, Shreveport, or St. Jude Children Hospital, Memphis TN.
