Ruby L. Salles, age 93, of Shreveport, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Ruby was born December 11, 1928 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Ernest and Carrie Hemphill Sutton.
Ruby worked professionally as a LPN at Highland and Schumpert Medical Centers in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ruby was a homemaker. She loved her animals and spending time with her grandchildren. Ruby loved to travel, dancing and in her later years she loved her Beanbag Baseball. She was actively involved in the Bell Choir with her friends at the Bloom Retirement Center. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Salles,and father of her children, James M. Shepherd; brothers, Arthur, Charlie, Sherman and Ernie Sutton; sisters, Onamae McGuffie, Ola Johnson and Ollene Norman.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ron Shepherd (Kathy) of Benton, LA and Larry Shepherd of Hermitage, TN; step son, Richard Salles; grandchildren, Cody Shepherd (Michaila), Megan Shepherd (fiance Brian Litton), Melissa Shepherd Brown of Mt. Juliet, TN, Michael Dean Shepherd (Tracy) of Goodlettsville, TN, James Robert Shepherd of Old Hickory, TN; Sister, Francis Johnson of Chatham, LA; Sister-in-law, Laquitta O'Neal; cousin, Tawana Sutton; 11 great grandchildren and other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Ruby will be held Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
