Sandra Gail Johnson Gilcrease was born December 25, 1946 in Bossier City, Louisiana to the late Douglas Junior Johnson and Maggie Walker Johnson. She was a dedicated mold operator at Western Electric, later becoming AT&T for 37 years retiring in 2001.
Gail was known for her unwavering dedication to her family. Her home was her sanctuary where everything had a place, kept clean and everyone was welcomed. She enjoyed gardening, she truly had a green thumb. She loved spending hours riding horses. Most of all, her heart belonged to her family, whom she adored beyond measure. Gail found so much joy with her grandkids.
Gail went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 77. Her unconditional love, faith and her light will be remembered by all those she knew and cared for. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Rebecca Alexander, Steve Johnson and her daughter-in-law, DaLynda Gilcrease.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry Wayne Gilcrease; childrens, Cheri Gilcrease Pate (Steven), Jerry Wayne Gilcrease Jr. and John Edward Gilcrease Sr.; grandchildren, Ryan Pate, Lauren Smith (Andrew), Joshua Pate, Kyle Pate, Jerry Gilcrease III, Ashley Gilcrease, John Gilcrease Jr. and Kasey Gilcrease; siblings, Mark Johnson (Ann) and Donna Herndon; along with six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended members. Also left to cherish her memory is special friend, Stephanie Young.
A Celebration of Life at Graveside for Gail will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Keithville Cemetery, Keithville, LA 71047. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Ryan Pate, Kyle Pate, Joshua Pate, Marvin Gilcrease, Jeremy Speight and Terry Dean.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House especially, Shirley Carter for the tremendous care and compassion.
