Scottie Wayne Franklin of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, September 3, at the age of 73. Scottie was born in Ruston, Louisiana on January 8, 1949 to Perry Franklin and Rheba Hawthorne.
He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1967 and joined the Navy shortly after. During his time in the Navy, Scottie served as a submarine operator during the Vietnam War. While in the service, he married the love of his life, Patsy Morgan, on December 16, 1970. He then worked for General Motors in Shreveport for over 25 years.
Since a young boy, Scottie has always loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. His most prized trophy was his 11lb largemouth bass caught on Caddo Lake in 2009. He had many hobbies throughout his life including, leatherworking, photography and gardening. Scottie was a great cook and loved to host fish fries with his family and friends.
Scottie was preceded in death by his father, Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy; son, John Franklin; daughter, Sarah Florence; grandchildren, Leona and Liam Franklin, and Evelyn Romero; mother, Rheba Rivers; sister, Karen Davis; brother, Darryl Franklin.
Scottie was soft-spoken at times, but always had a great sense of humor. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Granddad and we will miss him so.
