SHREVEPORT, LA - A celebration of life will be held for Sue Annette Heinsohn Brossett, 83, at 2pm on Tuesday, February 17 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Hope Chapel. Visitation will be held before the service from noon to 2pm. Officiating will be Pastor Kendall Holley of Broadacres Baptist Church.
Sue was born in Shreveport on February 2, 1943, to Verdun Leo and Susie Annie Lee Wallace Heinsohn and passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2026.
Sue graduated from Fair Park High School in 1961 where she enjoyed being a member of the Honor Legion. She continued her education at Ayers Business School and began a career as a secretary at the United Gas Research Lab. She took great pride in her work and often spoke about the valuable experience and lessons she gained and carried forward. Sue's time at United Gas also changed her life in another important way. It was there she met Larry, her loving husband of 58 years. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary February 25.
Growing up, Sue was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. As a young girl, she was an active member of the Girls in Action (GAs), a church missions group that helped nurture her Christian faith and instilled in her a spirit of service and compassion, values she would exhibit throughout her life. As she moved from her childhood home and began her own family, Sue became a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for three-year-olds for more than 20 years. She spent her later years as a faithful member at Broadacres Baptist Church where her son-in-law serves as pastor.
Sue enjoyed serving as a room mother for her children’s classrooms and participating in the PTA. She loved listening to and watching Elvis, especially when she was in attendance as a middle school girl as he performed live at the Louisiana Hayride. She also found great joy in hosting family at her house, gardening, and sharing deep conversations with those she loved. As a mother, she poured herself into her daughter and son, mentoring gently by example and wisdom through every phase and circumstance of life. Sue never turned down an opportunity to help organize a party or help provide snacks, meals, support, and a comfortable place to stay. She was always ready to serve and cook for an army with hopes that her table would be filled with children, grandchildren and all of their friends.
In retirement, Sue seized every opportunity to travel on family trips, creating lasting memories. She became the best ‘Mimi’ for each of her nieces and nephews, grandchildren and recently her great grandchildren. She took great care in being a confidante and friend and cherished the special moments to talk and tell bedtime stories, send handwritten cards and make countless facetime calls to make every birthday, holiday or life milestone very special.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Glynn Heinsohn and sister-in-law, Marilyn; Stanley Verdun Heinsohn; sister, Karen Gaye Heinsohn Watkins and brother-in-law Phillip.
Left to honor her memory are her husband, Larry; daughter Shannon Brossett Holley, husband Kendall, and children Courtlyn Grace Burgess and husband Adam, Mackenzie Holley Moran and husband Colin, Keaton Van Holley and wife Caroline, and Levi Kendall Holley; son Chad Carroll Brossett, wife Edith, and children Jack Walker Brossett, Graham Burton Brossett, and Lily Grace Brossett; great grandchildren Mackie Elaine Moran and Abram Greene Burgess and a great-grandson on the way, as well as numerous nieces and nephews she loved very much.
Serving as pallbearers are Terry Heinsohn, Keaton Holley, Levi Holley, Adam Burgess, Colin Moran, and Jack Brossett. Honorary pallbearers are Graham Brossett and William Kimbrough.
