Swepson Jackson Weldon, of Keithville, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born March 29, 1941 in Mt. Carmel, Louisiana to Edna Julia Brown and Andrew Jackson Weldon. He was affectionately known to family and friends as Swep. His interests were all encompassed in his love for his wife of 60 years, Dorothy.
Swep honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years retiring as a MSGT. During his career in the Air Force he worked as a Jet Engine Mechanic, Master Crew Chief, Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent and at the time of his retirement, Assistant Branch Chief of the Alert Force
.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Dorothy R. Weldon; daughter, Esther Weldon-Strippoli and husband, Michael; son, Andrew F. Weldon and wife, Belinda; grandchildren, Alexis "Lexi" Williams, Christian Weldon and wife, Angie, Blake Weldon and wife, Joslyn and Levi Weldon; great grandchildren, Harper Weldon, Everette Weldon and Connor Weldon.
He was preceded in death by his great grandchild, Asher Weldon, parents, Edna and Andrew Weldon, and siblings, Geneva Cobb, Andrew "Bud" Weldon and Genevieve "Geny" Stewart.
A visitation for Swepson will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life at graveside at 11:00 AM at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd, Keithville, Louisiana 71047. Serving as pallbearers are Don Cobb, honorary, Joe C., Keith C., Kevin C., Casey C., Alton Stewart, Joe Don Weldon and Andrew Weldon.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, St. Joseph's Hospice, and Kevin and Casey.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Swep's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
