Vanessa was born to Doug and Cecilia Holland on March 21, 1979. She was an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church, where she was very involved in the youth group and made many lifelong friends.
In 2007, she married her best friend and love of her life, Robert Mullins. Together they lived in Tyler, TX, attended Green Acres Baptist Church and raised their daughters, Emilee and Natalie, whom Vanessa loved with all of her heart. She was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2008, and declared in remission in 2009. After being told she would never have children due to the cancer treatments, she and Rob welcomed their son, Cameron, in August 2010. While pregnant, the lymphoma recurred, and treatments began just six weeks after his birth.
With prayer warriors interceding on her behalf, Vanessa underwent a bone marrow transplant in December 2010. Throughout treatments, family and friends witnessed God’s power at work. Although she is no longer with us, she did not lose the battle to cancer; she now lives in Heaven where there is no sickness or pain.
Vanessa was preceded in death by her grandparents, LeeRoy and Dorothy Holland, and Jimmie Ray and Yvonne Brown. Along with her husband, children and parents, she is survived by her brother and his family, Casey and Kay Holland, their sons Walker and Wyatt; her father and mother-in-law Mike and Ruby Mullins and a host of extended family.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to very special friends, as well as the staffs of ETMC, Trinity Mother Frances and Medical City-Dallas, and the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.
