

SHREVEPORT, LA – Welton “Bud” Morgan, 90, passed away on February 22, 2015 at his home. He was born October 19, 1924, to Gim Lester and Sidney Morgan in Haynesville, LA. Bud served our country in the US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He had been a resident of Shreveport, LA for 61 years and retired from the Shreveport Times in 1986.
Bud is survived by his son, James Mark and wife, Vicki Stringfellow of Lexington, KY; step-daughter, Rolanda and husband, Darrin Walker of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Robert Stringfellow and wife, Jessica, Kelli Otto, Donnie Otto, Patrick Stringfellow, and Emily Stringfellow; and great-grandson, Parker Stringfellow; brothers, LG and wife, Gloria, Jarrell and wife, Jeannie, David and wife, Cheri, and Billy Morgan; sisters-in-law, Minnie Morgan and Lynn Morgan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his great-nephew, Garrett Morgan, who lived with him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; son, Mark Lee; and wife, Millie; brothers, GL “June” and Jimmy; sisters, Ola Burt and husband, JE Burt, Dorothy, Val and husband, Kenny; and nephew, Kirby and wife, Mary.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Buck Furlow. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bud loved his family above all. He was a devoted husband, father and mentor who always had a smile and kind word for everyone he met. His love and wisdom will be greatly missed.
