William “Bill” Earl Lazarus, age 81, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Saturday September 15, 2018. He was born December 24, 1936 in Gibsland, Louisiana to Halbert Austin Lazarus, Sr. and Hazel Dale Green Lazarus.
Mr. Lazarus became a child of God in 1949 and since then served in many church roles such as a Deacon, Departmental Music Director, Leader of Youth Ensemble, Softball Coach at Baptist Ballpark, and Teacher of College and Career Sunday School Class at Summer Grove Baptist Church. He also served in various community roles throughout his life, most significantly as a Leader/Sponsor for Jr. Achievement.
Bill worked as a Landman in the oil and gas industry for many years. He loved his horses and being amongst them, stopping at yard sales, and hunting and fishing when he was younger.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Rene’ Morris and Diane Holmes; a brother, Richard Wayne Lazarus; grandchildren, Melissa Scroggins and husband Bert, Ashley Ashby and husband Michael, and Aleesa Ellison and husband Cody; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Austin Lazarus and Danny Ray Lazarus.
A visitation for Bill will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with a graveside to follow in the Centuries Memorial Park at 11:00 AM. Reverend Barry Glen Miller will be officiating the services. Honoring Mr. Bill as pallbearers will be Richard Lazarus, Eddie Lazarus, Michael Ashby, Cody Ellison, Bert Scroggins, and Peyton Scroggins.
