Yolanda Mary Ann Galambos, born to the late Julius and Lola Nyitray in Toledo Ohio on February 7th, 1929 and passed away on January 19th, 2022. She would have been 93 years old. She attended Notre Dame Academy and Stautzenberger College, later retiring as Business Office Manager at Riverside Hospital in Toledo.
Yolanda was blessed with a large loving family. She was married on June 26th, 1948 to Joseph Galambos at St. Stephens Catholic Church and was married for 40 years when Joseph passed away. Yolanda and Joe were the proud parents to two children, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her grandchildren called her “LaLa”. Lala loved to sing and dance with not only the grandchildren but also the great grandchildren. She loved to vacation with her family and traveled to Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Wisconsin Dells and later spent every vacation at lake cottages in Michigan, she also made trips to Budapest, and visited Paris, Wales and London while her son Joe and his family lived abroad.
Yolanda is survived by her sons and their spouses, Joe Galambos and wife Judy of Melbourne Fl., Jim Galambos and wife Susan of Blanchard. Her grandchildren, Melissa Galambos Pharr, Leslie Galambos Oakes, Chris Galambos and wife Rebecca, Jamie Galambos and husband Jason Mishka (Toledo)and Jason Galambos (Baton Rouge) and her great grandchildren Carter, Ava, Reide, Landry, Millie, Addie, Crew, John Carter & Charlotte and Justin, Morgan & Shelby.
Lala shared many songs and stories with her grand and great grandchildren, and her memory will live on through them.
Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial - Blanchard Chapel, 356 Warriner Ave., Shreveport, LA 71107.
