WAGNER, Albert James “Abby”, 73, Milford Hants Co., passed away September 26, 2012 in the Colchester Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born December 8, 1938 in New Cornwall, he was the son of the late William and Jennie (Aulenback) Wagner. He worked as a mechanic up to his retirement in 2003, working first on aircraft in Labrador and then as a well-known local mechanic in Elmsdale. He thought nothing of helping a stranded stranger, offering his hospitality by taking them to his home while he repaired their vehicle. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his son, Andy, and his grandson, Logan, fishing and hunting. He was happiest when he was surrounded by nature. He also enjoyed playing crib with any challenger and picking berries – eating more than he picked. Abby was known for his love of life, sense of humour, optimistic outlook, and strong constitution. He loved his family and friends dearly and spending time with them. His house was the popular gathering place for all the local kids. Surviving are his wife, Kay (Veinot); sons Karl (Heather), Shubenacadie; Andrew (Rhonda Morrow), Milford; daughter Karen Hamilton (Don Josey), Waverley; and grandsons Logan, Josh, and Jacob; brothers Lloyd (Charity) and Robert (Pam), Happy Valley NL; sisters Marjorie (Dale) Ernst, Blockhouse; Merle (Pat) O’Neill, St. John’s NL; and Debbie (Lewellyn) Feener, Pine Grove. He was predeceased by brothers Ralph in infancy and Clarence. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Saturday, September 29 at Ettinger Funeral Home with a reception immediately following. Interment will be a later date. No flowers by request. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Colchester East Hants Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses. On-line condolences can be made at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com. Special thanks to the staff of 4E and 4S of the Colchester Hospital for their excellent and loving care they provided.
