David touched my life so very much years ago. It was probably in the mid 1990's,on the land David had chosen to have a Shake Tent ceremony to give prophecy to a Wampum Belt that needed the last prophecy to be told. It was amazing to hear Davids rattle sound, as he answered each prayer asked of him. But then to witness a shooting star cross the sky as the rattle was heard..almost burst my heart. I wanted to write more but the computer blocks my attempts or perhaps some one else is playing with me...He told the people gathered that he sometimes grew tired of his travels but not the people he helped. He talked of missing his wife and children but he kept going where he was needed because he prayed some day he would be granted his one true wish in his life. That was to truly see his wife and his children, your family was so loved by him. This might make you smile but my boyfriend, white like I am, came home from work and went to place his coat in our bedroom. He came out fairly quickly asking me "Is that a large medicine man, napping on our bed?" I just answered that by reminding him that I had told him that a medicine man was coming to our land, to be able to have a ceremony on this land. I reminded him that the medicine man had chosen this location after sending out people to find the exact land needed to have this Shake Tent as it could not be done just any where, this was a very special gathering. Maybe I can write a more if you want but my computer I do not trust to let me send this being too long, sounds silly but what do we know? Just a little. Thank you for your family sharing David with those in need, when there were times you needed him also....I wish I could word this better for you. I will always remember David as Uncle David. I didn't get to spend much time with him as I got older but my childhood is filled with memories of him. I still hear stories from my Mother about how he changed her life forever. You are missed dearly.

I've always had David's words in my thoughts. He didn't teach me anything but he did guide me. He mentioned to me a few things I needed to learn on my own. For that I am forever grateful, he led me to learn of life when all I waited for was death. I fully learned more from his words after I was facing cancer that I had no fear of death (as always) but I had my children here who I was living for all along and I wanted to live. He helped me in my journey to overcome many things haunting me, I am very saddened to only hear of this news now. His words will always be with me. For me he is not gone, as with all my relatives.

I am still in shock of this great loss.Dave saved my life. I cannot believe he has left us..I miss you dave,,we love you and you will live in our hearts forever!!...My heartfelt condolences to the family..

I am deeply saddened to know my adopted brother passed. His chores on earth were done and I will miss him. In prayers for the family, I am proud to have been given the gift from Creator for knowing David. I met him on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in July about 4 years ago at Poundmaker Lodge, Alberta at the World Indigenous Healing Conference. I sat beside him and saw that he was alone so we talked. What a friendly man! What a happy man! What a story telling man! What an inspiring man! It was like we had already known one another. I adopted him as my little brother and he joked with me about being little. It felt like my heart was beating the drums themselves, the songs were so beautiful. I am proud my spirit name was given to me by David.  A tireless healer who's work has rippled through our mother earth.

David, ever so humble introduced me to the wonders and the gifts of the great Spirit...the guidance and his teachings I revisit on a daily basis.David's healing and giving spirit will be with us always and the great love he had for Mellissa,Logan,Meranda and all his other children has no boundaries and I pray shall comfort you all in this time of loss.

My first & only contact with Dave on Lenox Island was one that will last forever.  I am so glad Barbara introduce us.  The richness of that visit is a lasting memory for me.  A life that has had an influence on many.May the great Spirit direct you in your journey upon Mother Earth.

Melissa and family,
About four years ago our family asked David to come and help our niece who was battling cancer.  Without hesitation, he made the trip here.  At that time I was honored to visit with David and he shared many wonderful and humorous stories.  He was a wonderful person who taught us to always strive to be positive in our own lives.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

We will always remember the wonderful visits we used to have and what a wonderful, happy go lucky boy who was always happy to see us. He never complained of what God had planned for him and he lived with thankfulness each and every day. Always remembered.
