FLYNN, A. Harold – 83, Truro, formerly of Halifax, it is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on July 5th , 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax February 13, 1928, he was a son of the late Howard and Evelyn (Boudreau) Flynn. Always a hard worker, from boyhood, Harold worked for the former city of Halifax. He retired in 1983 after 38 years, as a superintendant of the Works Department. He was a diligent employee and received various awards. A man of many talents, he loved working with his hands, painting and model shipbuilding. He was known for his great sense of humor, (just ask the grandkids). He is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife of 63 years Edith (Hunt). Dad showed us the true meaning of love as he cared tenderly for Mom these past several years during her illness. A love story that began at 15 years of age and stood the test of time. A wonderful Dad, he is also survived by daughters Caroline (Gordon) Hubley, Nine Mile River; Donna (Leeman) Flynn-Metham, Greenfield; Debra (Troy) Rushton, Masstown; special daughter-in-law Karen Flynn, Truro; sons David (Barbara), Nine Mile River; Stephen (Colette) Bible Hill; Patrick (Marlene), Stewiacke; Harold (Michelle), Sackville; Gary (Sonia), Bridgewater; 28 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sisters Patricia McInnes, Ottawa; Shirley Hunt-Flynn, Musquodoboit; brothers Robert and Walter, both of Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Howard in 1985, son Patrick in infancy, sister Louise, a grandson and great granddaughter, both in infancy. Cremation has taken place.
