

LAFFIN (SHEPHARD), Jean M., 86- South Maitland, born in Cobham, England, (War Bride) passed away April 9, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Jean was the daughter of the late Fredrick G. and Ellen Maud Mary (Sheryer) Shephard. Jean loved going to church, gardening, cats and most of all her loving family. She also enjoyed a good game of cards, 63’s was a favorite, and going to “Laffin’s Folly” (cottage in Melville). Jean has preserved our family story in pictures with over 22 albums. Jean was the last member of her immediate family. She was survived by her loving families, daughters Mary (Charles) South Maitland; Marg Laffin, Truro; five grandchildren, Chris (Kim), Truro; Kerri (Jared) Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; Angela (Danny), Blandford; Victor, Truro; James, Edmonton, Alberta; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in Canada, England, Australia, and USA. Jean was (besides her parents) predeceased by her husband, Stephen “Pete” Laffin; sisters, Annie Gray, Freda Hill, Connie Cooke and Dolly Mouland -(sisters from England) Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. Visitation 6-8pm today, Monday April 11, at the Four Points Recreation Centre, Latties Brook. The funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday April 12, 2011at St. John the Baptist Church in Latties Brook, the Rev’d Bev DeVouge officiating. Reception to follow at Four Points Hall.
