

WILKIE, Julia, 93, Enfield NS, passed away peacefully at Elk Court in Brookfield, on Saturday December11, 2010. Born in Sugar Loaf, Cape Breton, in 1917, she was the daughter of the late James D. Jobe and Mary Ann (MacIntyre) Jobe. Julia and her late husband Charlie, moved from Sugar Loaf to Lantz in 1955 where he was employed by the National Gypsum Company. They lived in Carrolls Corner and Elmsdale and moved back to Cape Breton on his retirement. When her husband passed away in 1982 she moved to Enfield to be near her daughters. She had an incredible memory and a sharp wit. She was noted for her great homemade bread, raisin pie and cookies. She loved to write and sing songs about Cape Breton to her family and friends. She is survived by Annie (Floyd) Woodworth; Kenny, Allen (Shelly) and Brian (Rosalie) Susan Jane Burchell; Tommy, Ted (Pam), and Johnny (Jackie) Douglas (Linda) Wilkie; Mike (Jodi) and Audra (Lock) Pat (Winston) MacPhee: Wendell (Sarah) and Freddie (Teresa) Diane (Sonny) Oakley; Derek (Barbie) and Randy Fran (Pete) Davidson; Wendy (Chris) and Richard (Emily) Dale (Rick) Smith Charlie (Karen) Wilkie; Jamie and Dustin. She was blessed with fifteen great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Ellen Walls of Bathurst, Margaret Smith of Moncton and Jessie Stevenson of Moncton. She was predeceased by her mother and father, husband Charlie, brothers Jim, Bobby, Gordon, Dannie, Johnnie and sister Catherine. As per her wishes there will be no visitation. A service of Celebration of Her Life will take place at Gays River United Church, 2PM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 with Lori Crocker DM officiating. The family wish to thank the staff at Elk Court for the kind and loving care they gave to Mom. Donations in Julia’s memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
