Lucy Lake Crooks

CROOKS, Lucy L. - 73, Fall River/Barr Settlement, passed away at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, February 18, 2011. surrounded by her family. Born in Fortune NL she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Thornhill) Hoopais. For a number of years she was a crosswalk guard at Ashley Jefferson School in Fall River where she was awarded a certificate by both faculty and students for her respective duties. She was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother and loved by all who knew her. Lucy is survived by daughters Darlene Brimicombe (Robert), Nine Mile River;”Cora” Mecshell Corkum (Gary), Wellington; Jacqueline Macphee (Jason), Upper Nine Mile River; Lucy Grant (Jim), Shubenacadie; grandchildren Jason, Colin, Ashley, Amanda, Connor, Chantal, Miranda, Brianna, great grandchildren Jordan, Taylor, Kyle, Zachary and Daniel. Also surviving are sisters Mary Ayers, Sara Thornhill, and Helen Warren and true friend Margaret McDuff, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Jackie, brother Hubert in infancy and a sister Jane.The family wishes to express a special note of Thanks to the staff of Parkstone Enhanced Care especially the staff at Citadel Court. Donations may made to the Alzheimers Society of N S. Visitation will take place on Moday February 21st, 2011 from 6-9 at the Ettinger Funeral Home Shubenacadie.
