

THORNTON, Stewart Leonard – 65, Milford, passed away February 1, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Stewart was born in Watford, England on March 4,1946, he arrived in Halifax at the age of 4 months with his mother who was a war bride. He was a son of the late Leonard and Edna Thornton. Stewart was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his true passion was driving the back roads with his best friend, his wife Janet. Stewart worked as an orderly at the Camp Hill Hospital and then as an LPN at the Abbie J. Lane Hospital for a total of 46 years. He is survived by his wife Janet Curtis; daughter Andrea (Nick); sisters Stella (Bill), Denise (Chris); brothers Vernon, Leonard (Robyn); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons Paul and Phillip, daughters Shelly and Sarah Ann. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A memorial service 2pm, Monday, February 6, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Exit 10, Lori Crocker officiating. A Reception will follow the service here in the funeral home.
