
James “Butch” Payne, 56 of Sikeston, died August 18, 2011 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Born April 17, 1955, in Sikeston, to the late Don Payne and Helen Barnett Payne, who survives of Sikeston, he was employed for the past fifteen years as a vending technician for Pepsi Mid-America. He was a former Sikeston Little League baseball and basketball coach, and had attended Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston. On November 25, 1972, in Grant City, he was married to Sherry Vangilder, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, David (Jennifer Jaynes) Payne of Sikeston; one sister, Debbie Hosey of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Devon Payne, Christian Reno, Lindsey Reno, and Jordan Reno, all of Sikeston; his mother-in-law, Mary Vangilder of Sikeston; and
his God- daughter, Makayla Lowery of Sikeston.
Visitation will be Monday, August 22, 2011 from 10:00am until the time of funeral services at 11:30am at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Ramsey, pastor of Crossroads of Hope Community Church in Sikeston, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
