

James Wilbert “Jim” Thompson, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at his home in Sikeston. Known to many as “Thompson”, he was born June 11, 1936, in St. Joseph, Mo., to the late Lawrence and Margaret Sillers Thompson. He retired from MFA Oil Company after 48 years of service, with the last 28 years serving as district manager for Southeast Missouri. Jim was a 27-year member of the Sikeston Elks Lodge #2319, and a member of the Bertrand United Methodist Church. He was both an avid golfer and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time at the lake. On July 27, 1984, in Sikeston, he married Fannie Lanell Waldrep, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son, Brent Thompson of Wise, Va.; two daughters, Kay Kreisel and Lisa Sell, both of Sedalia, Mo.; one step son, Bobby Kindred of Sikeston; one step daughter, Angela Freeman of Cape Girardeau; and one sister, Janice Beck of St. Joseph. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 3, from 5-7 p.m. at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with a memorial service scheduled for 6 p.m. by the Sikeston Elks Lodge #2319.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the Nunnelee Chapel, with Rev. Lois McRill, pastor of the Bertrand United Methodist Church, officiating.
