

Jerry Wayne Alexander, age 69, of Sikeston, died August 27, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Born April 19, 1945, in Sikeston, to the late Seamon and Miriam Jackman Alexander, he was a retired mechanic, having been employed for both Ford Motor Co. and Morlan Dodge in Sikeston.
He was a member of the Missouri National Guard for six years, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and also worked in the nursery.
On December 28, 1965, in East Prairie, he married Brenda Sue Newman, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by one son, Bryan Alexander of Jackson; one daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Eric Farrell of Sikeston; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Donna Alexander of Sikeston; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Bailey of Sikeston and Rita and Gary Newman of Lebanon, Mo. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Blair Mathis and Danielle Alexander, both of Sikeston; several nieces and nephews, as well as his church family.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 29, at the First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston, with Pastor Dwayne Maynard, former pastor of the church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
