Mary Helen Lowery

Mary Helen Lowery, age 89, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Morehouse, died August 30, 2016, at The Halcyon House in Atlanta. Born July 8, 1927, in Canalou, to the late Abraham and Mary Elizabeth Scott Landers, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. On January 19, 1946, in Canalou, she married Robert Henry Lowery, who preceded her in death on October 1, 1959.

Survivors include: one son, Todd Lowery of Atlanta; one daughter, Tammy (Howie) Nast of Morehouse; one brother, Robert Landers of Canalou; three sisters, Roberta Nipper of the state of Mississippi, Leatha Jones of Sikeston and Tass Thrower of the state of Illinois; five grandchildren, Kim Buck, Jimmy Gordick, Nicole Gordick, Kristy Whitley and Mary Huus; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, Bobby Ray Lowery; three daughters, Brenda Lowery, Terri Bates and Sherry Buck; six brothers, Leslie Landers, Raymond Landers, Willie Landers, Jackie Landers, Herman Landers and Abe Landers Jr.; five sisters, Inen Landers, Ruby Landers, Wenette Landers, Ethel Arbuckle and Vernice Harr; and one granddaughter, Rachel Bowers.

Visitation will begin at noon until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of the Murray Lane Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Madrid County Mounds Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Landers, Jason Landers, Ricky Landers, Kyle Bowers, Zack Bowers, Jackie Hays III and Gage Cox.
