Matthews-Raymond Randle Averitt, 74, died December 21, 2014, at the Close To Home Nursing Center in Matthews. Born January 5, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Clyde and Myrtle Averitt, he served seven years in the U.S. Navy, earning the National Defense Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Averitt of Texas; one son, Tim Averitt; one daughter, Shana Averitt; two sisters, Lorean Petrie and Margrett Greer; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Averitt; and three sisters, Nadean Slaughter, Shirley Averitt and Kathy Faught.
Interment will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
