Richard Eugene Hoyer, 77, of Sikeston, died December 19, 2012, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston. Born October 14, 1935, in Oldham, S.Dak., to the late Hans and Lottie Durfey Hoyer, he was a self-employed farmer. He had a passion for flying, and was a fifteen-year member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Painton. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church of Sikeston. On August 29, 1954, in Arlington, S.Dak., he married Donna Petersen, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Donna Hoyer of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bill Ballinger of Deslodge; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
One son, Brian Hoyer, preceded him in death in 1976.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
