

Sikeston-William Harrison Waltrip, 93, died on March 20, 2013, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. Born January 20, 1920, in Clarkton, Mo., he was the son of the late James O. Waltrip and Cora Waltrip. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Waltrip, and two sisters, Gwen Greer and Emily Presley.
On January 28, 1942, he married Ruth Maxine Miller who survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Waltrip, two grandchildren, Kim Waltrip and Aaron Waltrip and Sara, and one great grandchild, Raiden Waltrip. Surviving as well are two sisters, Ginny Ward and Dean Ford, along with several nieces and nephews.
Harrison was honored to serve his country during WWII in the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning home to the U.S., he dedicated his life to his family and his church. He was a long-standing member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
For many years he worked for Hart’s Bakery, and afterwards owned and operated his own business, Waltrip’s Food Mart in Matthews, Mo., until his retirement.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until time of the funeral service at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Billy Davis, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Harrell, Richard Mills, Kenny Johnson, Gary Bruns, Lynn McKinnie and Terry McKinnie.
