I am saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Flood.  He help restore my hair from chemical damage.   He was a man of professionalism who knew his work and valued his patient.  May God continue to bless his family.

Dr flood was my dermatologist since I was a new born till I was 18. Now moving to DC I went to look up his information and just found out he passed. He was a great dermatologist me and my mom loved him a lot. My his soul rest in peace 🕊️

My sympathy to the family.   I knew Allen as a schoolmate at NC A&T State  University.  Years later while researching our Archie family history, I found my great great grandmother was Sabra Flood  from the Ahoskie/Coefield /Murfreesboro area.  I have often thought about Allen and wondered if we were relatives.  I knew Allen was from that area but never followed up.  May he rest in peace.

He was a gentle giant and will be greatly missed. Simply the best.

We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear of the  loss of our friend Allen Flood, M. D.  Juanita and all of the members of the Flood family have our deepest sympathy.  We will miss Allen so much.  We had the pleasure of sharing many vacations with Allen, Juanita, along with Tom and Donna Day.  We travelled to Europe, Aruba, and Martha’s Vineyard together.  We will always smile when we think about Allen.  When we went to Europe and visited the great monuments in the Mediterranean, we had a tour guide.  After we finished the tours we decided that we really didn’t need a tour guide to tell us the history of the Parthenon, Ephesus, or any of the great landmarks.  All we needed was our erudite friend, Allen.  He could talk for hours about the history of every place we visited.  We will miss his infectious laughter, his zest for life, and the joy he brought to anyone in his presence.  Rest in peace Allen.


The Purple H-20 Tailgate Crew will miss our friend, but we will cherish the fond memories hanging out at the Washington Football Team games. We will keep the family in our prayers. 



I met Allen in 4th grade and we were friends through high school and college. We have not seen each other in many years but I was shocked and sad to hear of his passing . R.I.P. my friend.

I was sorry to hear of Dr. Flood's passing and wish to offer my deepest condolences to his family.   I worked with Dr. Flood at Shaw Community Health Center in the 70's,  I was a nurse and he was a Resident on rotation; back then the patients called him “the hippie doctor” because his hair was long and he wore a straw hat and sandals. Dr. Flood was a good person, a great  physician and he was always fun to be around. He nicknamed me “Jeannie Mae”, no one would ever dare call me that but he did and got away with it. I haven't been in contact with Dr.  Flood in ages and it saddens me to know he is gone; we've all been blessed to have know him.

My Life Journey with Allen A. Flood, M.D. - I am sadden and in mourning at the loss of my colleague and dear friend, Allen A. Flood, M.D.  Allen and I met during our studies in medical school as we sat together in an anatomy class.  Allen grew up in Ahoskie, North Carolina and I grew up in New York City.  He was such a gregarious guy, who had a quick wit and boundless energy.  As we sat in medical classes, he liked teasing me.  Knowing that I was from New York City, he gave me the nick name “NYTD” based on the New York City Police Department (NYPD).  Not only was he very astute in his medical studies, but he was also very adept in his knowledge of history; he was a history buff.  His knowledge of life in general was beyond reproach. Within the realm of dermatology after medical school, internship, and residency, Allen and I studied together for our Dermatology Boards. We passed the Boards, and as practicing Fellows of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) over the last 40+ years, we have shared many dermatological cases and clinical treatments. Most recently, we worked together regarding the SBA-backed loans provided to businesses to keep our workforce employed during the COVID-19 pandemic. While we shared many experiences together in our medical practices, we also shared many experiences traveling abroad with our wives and friends; that is, traveling to various countries in Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean.  Allen loved jazz, so we traveled to the Caribbean on a “Smooth Jazz Cruise” where he spent countless hours listening to some of his favorite jazz musicians.  Allen also loved football, and was a die-hard “Redskin” fan, as the football team was called a few years ago.  However, since I am a die-hard Ravens’ fan, Allen and his wife, enthusiastically, accompanied my wife and me during 2017 to watch the Baltimore Ravens play the Jacksonville Jaguars in an NFL game in London.  As friends, we also traveled together to Martha’s Vineyard. Allen loved the unspoiled beauty of Martha’s Vineyard and the camaraderie of friends on the island. To know Allen was to love him; he lived every day to the fullest. There are many attributes that would describe Allen A. Flood, M.D.; however, the ones that stand out for me are as follows:  he was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague, friend, and godfather to my son.  Allen A. Flood, M.D. was a living legend. He was truly defined by his infectious, charming personality. To paraphrase a quote of the late Justice Thurgood Marshall, “In recognizing the humanity of Allen A. Flood, M.D., we pay ourselves the highest tribute in extolling, a man of many virtues.”

Dr. Flood was the BEST DOCTOR I ever had.   I am so appreciative of him choosing to share his medical gift to the city and people of color.  I went to several dermatologists who had no clue how to treat me and then someone said to me "Have you been to see  Dr. Flood?"  That was the beginning of a blessing.  I am so glad I told Dr. Flood "Thank you for helping me."  To the family:  My sincerest condolences and prayers are with you.  May God keep you at this difficult time.

Dr.  Floyd was my dermatologist for many years.  I loved his candor and bedside manner.  He was instrumental in helping me with regrowing my edges.  I will miss his smile and ability to listen to your concerns.  I am praying for his family, staff in his office , friends and patients whom I know will mis the wonderful man.

I know we all must go at some time. I'm grateful for having known you. You were one of the gracious knowledgeable teachers I had at Howard University Hospital during my residency  in Family Practice which was in it's infancy. You gave me and my fellow trainees mad respect. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of me Dr. Flood. I was a patient of dr flood when he worked for Kaiser permanente.  I was 20 years old.  My last visit to see Dr Flood was in January 2022 the sweetest man and best dr I had.  Fondest memories I have Alopecia and folliculitis in 1998 Dr flood said you better not come up in my office with that weave again and stop the relaxer and I said what do you want me to with with this hair he said bring back the bush and we laughed. Rest in Heaven Dr flood from Donna Davis and family.

Dr. Allen Flood was known in the Washington DC, Suburban Maryland area as a very skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate dermatologist , who added significantly to our community of healthcare professionals. I knew Dr. Allen Flood as a classmate, during our time at the Howard University College of Medicine class of 1972( 50 short years ago). At that time and subsequently, he was known for is intelligence comradeship and good humor. I knew Allen and have considered him to be a friend, since our undergraduate days at Howard University College of Liberal Arts. Alan Flood will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues and patients, as well as his family.
