Andree’ grew up in Washington, DC graduating from Spingarn High School. She began her Christian journey attending Central Union Baptist Church in Northeast DC, later attending Round Oak Missionary Baptist Church before becoming a founding member of Resurrection Baptist Church in Silver Spring, MD. She was a devoted deaconess and usher who always put God and family first. Andree’ believed serving the Lord was her number one job. Before becoming a devoted wife and mother, Andree’ worked at the United States Department of Treasury. On June 10, 1961, she married Joel Prentice in a small ceremony in Washington, DC. Her greatest joy was being a loving mother to her four children, as well as helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known as the neighborhood mom where all were welcomed and loved.
Andree’ leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories; her loving husband, Joel Prentice; her beloved children, Joel Derrick Prentice (Angela), Kirk Tyrone Prentice, Scott Lamont Prentice (Jessica), Monique Nicole Prentice Riddick (Damion); three sisters, Maria Jackson; Aurelia Shorter; and Altonell “Toni” Mumford (Arnell); thirteen grandchildren, Joshua Prentice; Anthony Riddick, Ariel Prentice, Nicole Prentice, Kyle Prentice, Sean Prentice (Alexandra), Kirsten Prentice, Larissa Prentice, Antonio Rodriguez, Devin Riddick, Sofia Prentice, Jayden Moreyra, and Xavier Prentice; seven great-grandchildren; extended family, Jacqueline Prentice; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
