Dear Kem & Josh—I was heart broken to just learn of Ann’s passing—I met the two of you years ago when I reconnected with Ann—Ann & I were roommates in our early 20s and what a wonderful time we had—we laughed, cried and grew up in so many ways. Ann was the house “mother” always being the voice of reason but Debbie (our other roomie) and I were always creating dance parties and creating situations where she gave into her fun and light hearted side.  I cherish her friendship and knowing your beautiful Ann—sending love and hugs to you both 💜

This makes me sad...Ann was my husband therapist for about a year 2013 into 2014. He had a bad stroke at age 36 and she coached him and encouraged him to better health. We have never forgotten Ann and never will. My condolences to her husband and son; she often spoke so well of them. 

Ann, you lived life on your terms from start to end, caring for others, sharing your passions, and making every day count.  As my dearest friend for so many years and the sister I never had, you've been the first person I want to share events from my life with...the great joys, great sorrows and the little everyday things.  I'm so grateful that our paths crossed in the 1980s, and that our connection continued to deepen over the years.   So many memories of gatherings, vacations, road trips, cooking, reading, lake walking and even just running errands together.  Words can't express how much I'll miss you every day, and I hope I brought similar joy to your life.  You'll continue to inspire me to be the best version of myself each day.  

And one of the most impactful and important reminders of you that I'll continue to value every day are all the people I've met through you who are now also my extended family and dear friends.  With love always, Susan

When you have a family member with serious illness you find that right when you are facing an exceptionally troubled  time an angel comes into your life and shows you the way.  Ann was the angel who helped guide my daughter through her recovery on many occasions. When my daughter was going to surgery Ann was the advocate who made sure that her airway was carefully protected,  My daughter and Ann shared a special bond and I knew when I couldn’t be there she was in good hands with Ann helping her through. She has been a special angel in our lives and I know her caring words and actions will stay with us forever. She will be sorely missed, but we are blessed to have had such a precious soul in our lives.

Dear Kem:
   I did not have the pleasure of knowing your wife, but it is a joy having met you.  If your wife was anything like you - she was a kind and decent individual.  May God bless and watch over you and your son during this period of sorrow and grief.

We got to know Ann after a recommendation by Ellen B., to consult with her on my hubby’s inability to speak post major surgery. The connection was instant and lasting. Ann loved hearing about Pat’s Guyanese roots and flavorful recipes and she incorporated her learnings when connecting to other patients.

I had already worked with Ann at Doctors for years but it wasn’t until our appointment with her that I understood the fullness of her craft. She connected with Pat, was direct yet comical, and got him to stick to his treatment plan because he said Ann would know if he didn’t and he didn’t want to deal with that, lol. He’d laugh at the thought of this each time he did his exercises (which was actually a part of Ann’s treatment plan), and it worked! His voice was completely restored. 

I thought Ann’s connection to Pat was unique until I realized after watching her on the job, that she had a way of connecting to all of her patients. She gave her all, working really long  hours but, that never mattered to her. Her patients got her full attention and expertise whether it was 8am or 8 pm.

I will miss her smiling face and energizing voice, and we will forever be grateful for having the opportunity to have had Ann in our lives. She was a Blessing!

Dearest Ann & family, 
I’m writing this forever letter to my dearest friend of 53 years as Ann was famous for her letter writing when we were young.  

I have so many fun memories of our years together as counselors at Camp Thayer,  sleep overs in Quincy and Marshfield/Duxbury, our weekly night excursions to Harp & Bard as groupies seeing the Corcoran Brothers.  Speaking of sleepovers, Ann you were such a cheerful morning person and I definitely was not.  You looked at each new day as an adventure and always tackled it with smiles.  You showed me the ways of city living as I was a country bumpkin and it was always exciting to walk everywhere but especially for pizza at Villa Rosa or take the subway to Chinatown for fabric. 

You always gave encouragement and was just a phone call away throughout college and when you moved to Maryland for graduate school. No matter how long our time apart was and how life could get in the way when we connected again it’s like no time had passed. 

I’m was so thrilled that when my daughter started college and Vanity Fair Drive was always a welcomed stop/overnight on my way down to North Carolina and back. These times will always be cherished memories for me. 

Ann, a truly remarkable, caring, supportive, and loving friend.  So many memories, so many stories and they all have a very special place in my heart. You touched everyone’s life in such a positive way. Love you and many hugs to Kem and Josh. You will never be far from my mind or heart!

That's the impact that Ann had on our family---she was just that, family.  We will miss her. "

Ann was more  than just a colleague, she was a friend. She was so vibrant in her work and life in general. She helped so many people on a daily basis who were unable to swallow and got them to eat again, almost like magic. Personally, she taught me so much about feeding tubes and trachs, and made me a better clinician. In her last weeks, I visited Ann and we had a wonderful visit.  Despite her illness and pain, we laughed and joked around. She was candid about her illness, as I would have expected from Ann. I am sad that someone who helped so many others is taken from us too soon. We all love you Ann. Rest well.

I spent 20 years at Doctors Community Hospital working with Ann in the Rehabilitation Department.  I'll always treasure the memories of working alongside Ann with many of our patients.  Although her expertise was in Speech Pathology, she had a wealth of knowledge in many areas of patient care which will be missed by everyone.  Her passion for patient care was unsurpassed and she will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Ann was an amazing friend, mentor, older sister I never had, confidant, pursuer of great food&wine, an accomplished cook, a dedicated speech pathologist, and so much more to me I can't put a label on. I knew Ann for over 30 years. We met as fellow workers at Leland Memorial Hospital back in 1987. She taught me so much about being a compassionate healthcare worker and true friend. We shared the best and worst of times. She was always there to listen, support, offer a hug or comfort food. Ann always put people first, whether her patients or friends. She was my role model and closest of friends. I was blessed to share so many fun times; visiting wineries, camping in the Shenandoah mountains in Virginia, a girls trip to the Bahamas, many meals-home cooked and at wonderful restaurants, concerts at Wolf Trap, George Winston at the Kennedy Center, Irish pubs with singing and dancing, listening to jazz music at Takoma Station, walks around Greenbelt Lake and the Arboretum, shopping at Glut, many laughs, some tears, so many more memories. Ann was the epitome of energy and a morning person.l marveled at how well she could blend into every situation and group; she was comfortable in the most sophisticated places as well as the garden at my parent's house in PA. I also became friends with some of her friends: Susan, Karen & Bob, and of course Kem and Joshua. I remember making French toast for Joshua per his request. Shockingly, he preferred mine over his mom's. I am truly blessed and eternally grateful to have had Ann in my life. I would not be the person, nurse or friend I am today without her influence. I was able to spend some time with her the last 6 weeks and it was bittersweet but priceless. Rest now, my friend; with no more pain. You have earned your wings. Fly and be free. My heart is sad but I know you want me to go on, move forward. You will always be in my heart. I promise to check in and be there for your "boys" (Kem and Joshua) and Susan too. Love never ends.....


So many memories, neighbor! My favorite times were sitting in your kitchen, having a bite to eat and enjoying a glass of wine -- or two -- with you and Kem.  So much laughter and so many great stories.  

Thank you for being a great neighbor and friend. There was a lot of joy in your life. Even as I'm writing, I can't help but smile!  I'm so glad to have known you.

Jimi and I met Kem and Ann through soccer, circa 1998. Our sons were on the same team. Thus began a special friendship that has lasted over 20 years.
I remember fondly our trips to Edinburgh and London and to Mazatlán, Mexico.
Ann was (I still find it hard to say was) a personification of the word "friend". She was always ready, including going out of her way, to help in any way she could and to be a sounding board for her friends. She was an excellent cook, an attribute I would be remiss not to mention. I especially remember her tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding.
Ann, I will miss our long chats and our "girls' day out". I will miss you terribly.

I worked with Ann  since 2007 when I joined Doctors Hospital.  Ann was a kind and gentle soul.  Ann was not in Information Technology department where I work but was definitely computer savvy in knowing what was needed to improve electronic documentation for Speech Therapy.  Ann assisted me in making sure my children utter their first words in a timely manner.  I will sincerely miss her.  God has better plans......RIP

Thank you Ann for your sharing your years of service and  caring for your patients with such love and commitment.  I will never forget  the permanent smile on your face and the gentleness in the  way you would explain the plan of care  when I called you for advice. You were never too busy to make time for others.  I remembered I wanted you to see a friend who had a swallowing problem and you did not hesitate to offer see her. 
You have lived the life and walk the talk .

Ms. Ann is such a great person, very compassionate and dedicated to her work.  You will always see her in ICU with her tote bag, her ipad and coffee, ready to see her patients. The energy and encouragement she shows towards her patients made me admire her more. 

Ms. Ann and I also have the same birthday and that's why whenever October comes we always do our countdown and share are plans for our birthday and because we share the same birthday, she will always let me know if she have new Opal accessories.  
Also, for the past year she became my "wrist police" since I hurt my hand and had to go through therapy. Every time she sees me at work she will remind me, "Shayne, you better make sure you're not abusing your hand, wear that splint and listen to your doctor.  I'm telling you, you may not feel the pain right now but when you get older, trust me, you will know what I'm saying, so wear your splint!".  And because of that,  I wore my splint all the time which greatly helped me and my hand. Thank you Ms. Ann for the advices and experiences you've shared with me. I know you're pain free now and the heaven just earned a wonderful angel. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with us. Thank you for everything. 
You maybe gone but you will never be forgotten.
