

Anthony Amatucci, 81, of Olney, Maryland passed away in the presence of his wife on Saturday, August 12,2023 after a brief illness.
Tony was born on June 9, 1942 to Eduardo and Consolata Amatucci in San Potito Ultra, in Italy. He emigrated with his family to the United States in 1949. After attending Wheaton High School, he graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1965.
Immediately after college, he was drafted into the US Army and served proudly at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He then began a life-long career as a civil servant at NIH.
A proud father, grandfather, and devoted family man, Tony is survived by his wife of 52 years Joyce, sons Mark (Dorothy) and Stephen (Lynn Marie), his grandchildren Genevieve Marie and Logan Anthony, and his goddaughter Chenise Miller and her family.
Tony is preceded in death by his brother Guy (Sue). He leaves his brother Samuel (Margherita), sisters Elodia D'Onofrio (Anthony) and Maria Petruccelli (Michael), a cousin, Carmine Amatucci (Irma), and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tony was an avid sports fan, still golfing and playing tennis at age 81. He loved football and watching the Washington Commanders. Also an animal lover, there was always a dog, cat, or both in the house. His current dog, Lacie, has grown accustomed to walks three times a day.

Visitation will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland, Saturday September 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a brief memorial to follow.
