Barbara “Barbi” Jean Hockaday was born on November 22, 1970, in Washington, DC. Youngest of five children born to Willie Roger Lee, Sr. and Barbara Jean Lee, Barbi grew up in NW, Washington, DC and Silver Spring, Maryland. She was the dear sister of Robin Lee (deceased), Sandra Johnson, Willie Lee, Jr., and Lisa Buchanan. Barbi graduated from Springbrook High School in 1988. Afterwards, Barbi earned her bachelor’s in computer science at Hampton University and her master’s in computer science from American University. She worked as a Project Manager for the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency for 21 years. Barbi was a devout Christian who enjoyed family gatherings, R & B music, thriller movies, beach vacations and home decorating, but above all she loved the Lord, her family and being a mother to her three boys.
On December 6, 2021, God saw that her body was weak, so He called our beloved, Barbara Jean Hockaday, home to be with Him. She is survived by her husband Reginald Hockaday and her sons Ryan, Jordan, and Justin Hockaday. She is also survived by her dear father Willie R. Lee, Sr. whom she adored. She will be missed by numerous aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.
