Concepcion P. Batugo

Concepcion Batugo, age 91, of Hyattsville, Maryland passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19th, 2023. She was born on December 5th, 1931 in Rayuray, Batac Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Antomina Runduen Puyot and Alberto Puyot. She immigrated to the United States in 1981 and lived in DC before settling in Maryland.

Concepcion was devoted to her family, is preceded in death by her husband Constante Batugo, and is survived by her four children: daughter Purisima Salazar and son-in-law, Rene Salazar, daughter Catherine Calacal (late son-in-law, Joel Calacal), son Rogelio Batugo and daughter-in-law, Alicia, and son Noel Batugo and daughter-in-law, Maya. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Mark Calacal and granddaughter-in-law, Rebecca Perez Calacal, Kathleen Calacal, Rodney Salazar and granddaughter-in-law, Erica Salazar, Jessica Salazar, Joshua and Ashley Batugo, and Niko, Brandon and Maerielle Batugo, and seven great-grandchildren: Demario Perez, Selena and Camila Calacal, Marquez, Mehki and Maliyah Herman and Aubrey Salazar.

Concepcion was one of seven children to Antomina and Alberto. She was preceded in death by her siblings Leona Puyot, Emilio Puyot, Tomas Puyot, Terio Puyot, and Trinidad Sabas and is survived by her youngest sister, Emiliana Pammit.

Concepcion worked in hospitality services for over 30 years. She was also a talented seamstress and was the valedictorian in her vocational program, and throughout the last years of her life tirelessly fought through while suffering with dementia.

She will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
