To the David Watson family 

You and my good friend Dave are truly in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm very saddened to hear he has passed. He has taken care of me for more than 20 years at CVS and we always had a laugh or joke every time we met. I also went to school with his cousins Ronald and Donald.  I was getting ready to call and check on him when l got the sad news.
So let me thank you his family for all that he has done for me and my family for all these years. He was my pharmacist and friend. Take care and may God Bless you all.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I went to the CVS today for the first time in a while, when I saw the memorial for Mr. Dave I was in complete shock to learn he had passed. I grew up going to the CVS at Naylor Rd. SE and whenever I would encounter Mr. Dave he was always kind, helpful and patient. He was an amazing asset to our community. Serving the underserved for many years. Rest well Mr. Dave!

Dave Watson was a very close and dear friend and co-worker who shall be sorely missed. He worked at the Naylor Rd CVS and I at the Penn Branch location.  We communicated between the stores daily. I can still hear his greeting then and whenever we met, "Hi T. B. what's going on?"

Dave always had a smile on his face and was a very kind and compassionate person.

All I can pray is thanks to God for the life of my friend Dave Watson. May his memory comfort your hearts and may heaven smile upon you.

Sending condolences and prayers of support in memory of David who I met at Simply Swing Dance Academy along with his beautiful and sweet wife Zandra!  What a wonderful and kind person who always had a warm smile, encouraging comments/thoughts  and an eagerness to dance, making you feel like you’re the best dancer in the world!  In actuality, he was a great dancer, a glue in the dance community, and all around accomplished person who will be deeply missed by us all.  May God continue to comfort family at this difficult time.   David and Zandra are re-joined and united in heavenly peace as angels in heaven as they were angels on earth.

Dear Watson Family,

I am praying that the Lord will touch you with his gentle healing today.  David was a good person  who always made me laughed while helping  me with my hand dance classes.  He was my partner for my graduation in April 2019 from Simply Swing Hand Dance Academy. David also gave me dance advice during our outdoor line dance classes in Laurel this summer and fall (even though he wasn't the instructor).  I look around now at those classes and miss seeing David and hearing him tell me how I was doing.  David is with the love of his life now and I am sad for those who he left but glad that they are now united forever.

David was truly one of a kind.  He will definitely be missed. He was one of the dancers who truly liked to help beginning dancers like me. And he always danced with a smile on his face.   I last saw  him  at one of our dance events.  Can't  believe he has left us.   May God's blessings be upon you. 

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I knew him through hand dance and the Simply Swing Dance Academy.  As we rotated through the line and were matched with new partners, I was always excited to dance with Dave. He invariably greeted me with a beautiful smile and was so patient with my mistakes. What a true gentleman. Viewing the video of his dancing brought back beautiful memories. My late husband Jim and I are watching from the sidelines, Jim, as always with his camera taking pictures of the graduation dance.  Many of my happiest memories of my dear husband were from hand dancing, and Dave was a big part of that.

David was a very kind person.  I joined the Simply Swing dance class to get a little exercise, and keep some happiness as I nursed my husband.  But I am a bit on the quiet side.  David would always greet me with a smile and make sure that I got dancing!

He will be very much missed by our community.

So sorry to learn of David's passing.  He was always such a gentleman and a smooth dancer on the dance floor.  I enjoyed dancing with him.  Gone too soon.  My prayers and blessings will go out for his family.

Gonna miss  our yearly Memorial Day motorcycle ride downtown to the Buffalo Soldier Museum.  I met Dave at the store  in the late 80's  and we've been friends ever since.  Rest and ride in peace my friend.

With the blessings (and pains) of age, I have come to ask fewer questions and gratefully accept the little joys (and mysteries) of life.

Experiencing David's presence, warmth, gentleness, kindness, caring, and open spirit on and off the dance floor was an amalgam of little, quiet joys that I did not realize occupied space in my world until now.  I will not see him again in the flesh, but he remains etched in my spirit  --  quiet, yet present.

I only knew him for a short time 
but wow what a kind sweet funny friendly spirit...and a good dancer.  He had a ,"bop" that made dancing with him energizing and fun!  David will be missed.

So sorry to hear about the lost of Mr. David.  He was an amazing man! Pleasant, upbeat spirit every time I visited the pharmacy... Never Complained.  He will be truly missed.


I joined the Simply Swing Hand Dance family in the middle of a 12 week rotation. Since I missed the first few weeks of class, I was behind and felt frustrated, to the point of wanting to give up. David was a leader - one of the best. He put me at ease - joked with me when I made a mistake and helped me practice until I learned a step. When I ventured out into social dancing, amidst dancers with years of experience, David saved me a dance, helping me to become comfortable enough to dance with other leaders. I’ve been dancing for nearly (3) years now. David is one of the  leaders who made me feel like I was gliding across the floor. I am forever grateful. 🌷

I knew David when we were both at Howard. We went through the four years together.  My girlfriends and I loved looking at his light green eyes and long lashes. Wonderful smile.  He took copious notes in every class to the amazement of the rest of us - like did you write everything the instructor said?  In the end he showed us all up by passing all three pharmacy boards (MD DC VA) first time around.  He was the only one in the class to do so.  Never saw him much during senior year, but have the fondest memories of those times at Howard U.

My sincerest condolences to the family.  I am also a friend of Orlando B. who after all these years told me today he was related to him by marriage.

When I was told of his passing the first  memory  that came to mind was when Dave and I left work (Exxon) to pick up something from his house, while waiting for him in his 1971 gold Nava double parked on Delafield Place, he ran into the house. Shortly after he returned to the door and motion to me to come inside. Once inside he took me to the basement and showed me his brand new  Shiny Chrome Drum set and played the only song that I believe he knew at that time....

Dave, Doc, Dr. Dave, David Jr. or as I called him, DJ, loved life. He loved being a Roosevelt Rough Rider, he loved being a Pharmacist at the CVS in S.E .  and after he retired, always found the time to touch base with his CVS family. He talked of his yearly vacations with his beloved wife Zandra and combined family members. He was a dedicated friend, son, father and brother and was always excited about Sunday Dinner at his sisters’ home; including his brother in laws grilled salmon.  He loved playing golf, riding his purple Harley, tinkering with his classic ‘Vette, watching birds, setting up beautiful gardens and being an all-around handy man, even if he wasn’t sure if he was doing things right. Let’s not forget his love for old school music, hand-dancing and his drums. I could go on about the things Dave loved but know that Dave loved his family, his friends and sometimes his enemies but foremost, he loved his GOD, he just didn’t know how much he we loved him and will miss him. Always professional and kind. He explained how to take your meds and the best over the counter meds to get without a prescription.  He never made you feel like you was interrupting him. You don't find too many career minded professional like him. He will be truely missed.  Condolences to the family

Dave was an exceptional guy, always greeting his customers with a smile.  He was my pharmacist at the CVS and if it weren't for Dave I probably would have switch pharmacies.
These are some of the things I personally experienced and want to share about Dave.
1)  I remember one particular time that my insurance didn't want to pay for my prescription, not only did Dave request all the different ingredients required by the prescriptions from other pharmacies,  Dave fought for me to get that prescription that would have otherwise costed me $1800.00 but I only ended up paying my copayment of $30.00 dollars.
2)  On multiple occasions when I would bring in my prescription Dave would have it processed and ready for me within 15 minutes.  He would always tell me to feel better.  
3) Dave had been my pharmacist for over 10 years and was very personable, professional,  compassionate and willing to go above and beyond  to make sure I had my medicine in a timely manner.

I am convinced that god called home his Angel to do the job of protecting and keeping the rest of us that are still here on this earth.

To his family, extended relatives and friends, thank you for sharing Dave and allowing this platform for the rest of us to tell you how very special he was to all of us.

I knew David Watson as the premiere Pharmacist of the Naylor Road/ Alabama Ave. CVS. For at least 30 years he served the community with kindness and professionalism.  I was aware that he had retired, but am now saddened to know that he has passed away.   My deepest condolences to the family.  He is missed.

Each time I walked in to the store, I thought about Dave and how I missed his smile and sunny disposition.  I worked with Dave  at CVS--he was a great teacher and very patient.  He worked hard--stood for over 12 hours and never took a break.  Yet he still managed to be kind to everyone.

David will be missed by many.  He helped me when my husband had to have very expensive medicine. David checked and checked the insurance and the price for the medicine was almost free. Always smiling, compassionate and kind. May he Rest In Peace. God bless.

I met David at Rabaut Jr. High School in Washington D.C., 52 years ago.   He was a very nice person who always had a beautiful smile.  He and I also attended Howard University.  We enjoyed our friendship in the early years.  Periodically over the years I would run into David and his parents and sisters at Gethsemane Baptist Church.  David was a beautiful person whose warm spirt and fine character will always bring back special memories.  My childhood and young adult life were blessed to have known him. 
May God grant the entire Watson family peace and serenity at this time.    Rest In Peace old friend!
