Francine Berger died suddenly on February 11, 2026, while on vacation in Captiva Island, FL, with her beloved husband Harvey. Fran was born in New York City and came to Montgomery County, MD when she was seven years old. She received her bachelors degree from the University of Maryland and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. After raising her children, she worked as a therapist in the Commission for Women Career and Counseling Center and Willow Oak Therapy.
Fran is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harvey Berger, her daughter Michelle Berger and son-in-law Kevin Bach, her son Howard Berger and daughter-in-law Heidi Berger, and her grandsons Samuel Bach, Herschel Bach, Charles Bach, Max Berger, and Isaac Berger. She is also survived by her brother Donald Schaeffer and sister Evelyn Lowry.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Temple Shalom, 8401 Grubb Road in Chevy Chase at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Garden of Remembrance, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, MD. Shiva will be on February 17 and 18 at 7:30 in the Community Room of 3005 S Leisure World Blvd in Turnberry Courts.
