Franklin Norman Himmelfarb, a real estate investor and lifelong DC area resident died suddenly on February 13, 2021 at the age of 82.
If you met Frank, you never forget it. If Frank loved you, and he loved many, you knew it to your core. He told you often, and showed you always. Frank loved and lived passionately. You could be sure Frank was going to be there for you with gusto and he was going to tell you exactly what he thought for better or worse. He was a presence bigger than life, and even as his physical health challenges increased his light never dimmed- Frank was always in the room, physically, via one of his trusty cell phones which never left his side, or as an internalized voice in your head. His creative wisdom, unwavering loyalty, and ability to love fully, must now continue on through us.
Frank was born in Washington, DC to Reba and Morton Himmelfarb on November 13, 1938. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Maxine Himmelfarb, his sons Steven Himmelfarb and Paul Himmelfarb, daughters in law Lisa Himmelfarb and Cheryl Himmelfarb, grandchildren Samara Himmelfarb and Jake Himmelfarb and sister Barbara Peters. The funeral service will be graveside at Judean Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Due to Covid restrictions the funeral will be private for immediate family only. Online Shiva information will be available on the Adas Israel Congregation website. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library c/o George Washington University.
