Gina was born in Newport, Rhode Island on January 12, 1956. She and her three younger siblings spent much of their early years travelling across the globe as part of her father’s Navy duties. Her mother worked hard to support Gina and her siblings as they moved with their father from country to country, spending time in Morocco, Japan, Puerto Rico, Italy and Cyprus. Eventually her father’s Navy duties led them back to the United States to settle in Silver Spring, Maryland where Gina attended Springbrook High School.
During her early years, Gina was drawn to music and art. She expressed this joy in her piano lessons, which she enjoyed all throughout her life. As she entered into adult life, challenging medical problems began to surface. As a Navy dependent, Gina made frequent visits to Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda. In time, help was also sought from Montgomery County Hospital as well as Springfield Hospital in Howard County. By 2011, the decision was made by Montgomery County Hospital to seek long term care for Gina at Springfield Hospital in Sykesville.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home (11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20904). The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024 beginning at 11AM at St. John the Baptist Church (12319 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20904).
