Hadas Asfeha

Born on June 15, 1957, in the southern region of Eritrea, in a city of Dekemahare to the late Mr. Negash Asefha and Mrs. Emuna Tedla Bahta, she lived a life full of love, compassion, and generosity. Hadas spent her childhood in Asmara before moving to Ethiopia, where she completed her education. It was there that she met the love of her life, Berhe Asgedom, began her family, and worked as an accountant. She returned to Eritrea in 1998, where she worked as a pharmacy assistant in the family business. In 2007, she and her family moved to Lansing, Michigan, and in 2010 they settled in Maryland, where she lived until her passing.

Throughout her life, Hadas devoted herself to her family and friends, creating a home where everyone felt welcome. Her heart was never closed to anyone—whether you were family, friend, or neighbor, you were greeted with kindness, warmth, and often a plate of her delicious cooking.

She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, caring for them and ensuring that everyone felt at home. Her greatest joy came from being a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a true friend to all. She had a gift for making people feel valued, listened to, and cared for, and she always put the needs of others before her own.

Her legacy is one of selflessness, love, and togetherness. She will be remembered for her open arms, her gentle spirit, and the way she could make any gathering feel like family.

Hadas leaves behind her beloved husband, Berhe Asgedom; her children, Wintana (Sherman) Harness, Hanna Asgedom (Yonas Fissehaye), Melat (Miguel) Melendez, Abib (Stephanie) Asgedom, Danait Asgedom, and Bana (Yordanos) Asgedom; and her cherished grandchildren, Eden Harness, Evan Harness, and Gabriella Asgedom. She is also survived by her siblings Abeba, Yohanes, Zaid, Tekle, Tesfalidet, and Aaron Negash, as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Negash Asefha and Emuna Tedla Bahta.
