HECTOR LOPEZ (OBITUARY) Dr. Hector Lopez, 66, born in El Paso, Texas passed away on June 21, 2014 in Bethesda Md. He is survived by his sister Gloria McKee-Lopez, brother-in-law Ted McKee, brother Jesus Antonio Lopez, niece Deborah Pappalau-Lopez and husband Andrew Pappalau, grand-nieces Audrey and Sophia Pappalau, aunt Francisca Reyes, and numerous cousins. Dr. Hector Lopez had a distinguished career in the government that lasted more than 40 years. His career included work as a program director at the National Institutes of Health/ NIBIB in the area of medical ultrasound imaging. Prior to joining NIH he worked for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in its Center for Devices and Radiological Health where he worked with the development of methods and tools for the objective measurement of imaging system performance. Dr. Lopez retired from the U.S. Public Health service with the rank of Navy captain. A memorial gathering will be held from 3- 5 pm with prayer service at 4 pm on Thursday, July 10th at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring MD.
