Irwin was preceded in death by his wife Harriet Smith; his father Harry Smith and his mother Sadie Bass.

A graveside service and burial for Irwin will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871.
