Judith Richwalksy was born in New York City, New York on May 20, 1931 and passed away surrounded by family on August 25, 2024 in Rockville, Maryland at the age of 93. She was the youngest and last survivor of five siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Tina, and husband, Stephen; her son, Michael and wife, Nancy; five grandchildren: Stephanie and husband, Brett; Nakina and husband, Jim; Nicole and husband, Sandy; Michael Scott and wife, Melissa; James and wife, Jessica; and eight great-grandchildren: Brady and Stella; Dylan and Blake; Lake and Lyric; Alyson; and David; and so many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends.
Judith graduated from Julia Richman High School in New York City and was married to Mike Richwalsky for 63 years until he passed away in 2015. They spent the early days of their marriage in New York City and Long Island, but most of their years were spent on Kidwelly Drive in Louisville, Kentucky. Judith created a home that was cozy, welcoming, and loving.
She always loved children and worked at a preschool for sixteen years. She also drove a school bus, worked in a meat-packing plant, and even spent some time at the promotions desk at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City.
She is known to her loved ones as Mom, Aunt Dodo, and Mamaw. She found joy in dance and created a family of friends there for many years helping with recitals and even performing in them along with her children and some of her grandchildren. She visited her family wherever they moved and brought enthusiasm and fun. She always put her children, grandchildren, family and friends before herself. She was raised as a very religious Catholic and continued her faith throughout her life. She was very happy to spend her last years as part of the Church of Christ at Manor Woods family.
In her later years, she loved knitting scarves, hats, and blankets for the underprivileged children in the Appalachian Mountains. She loved doing puzzles and playing word games. And she loved Steve Harvey on The Family Feud. What Judith loved most, though, was being with her family.
